Achren

Refers to both a variant name for the Battle of the Trees, and a woman who was present at the battle. A short text related to this is found in Peniarth MS 98B. It mentions that on the side of Gwydion and Amaethon there was a woman named Achren whose name must be guessed in order to win the battle, a feat not achieved by Bran.

This brief allusion inspired Lloyd Alexander to create the sorceress Achren of the Spiral Castle, who betrays Arawn at the final battle between the Children of Dôn and Annuvin.
