John Barleycorn
Figure from British balladry, he is symbolic of the final sheaf of the barley harvest. The ballad is framed as a gruesom murder, wherein John is beheaded, ground up, etc.
Some have attempted to see John Barelycorn as a sacrificial grain god, but this strikes me as a stretch.
